Great Curriculum Night

It was fantastic meeting so many caring and involved parents this past week. A lot came for the presentation on Curriculum Night and many more came just to touch base. A great school community where students are supported at home and at school can do amazing things. I'm really focused on building a stronger connection between school and home this year. It takes many hands to build a school.
For the teachers reading this Edmodo has been a huge help to show so that parents and students can see their homework each day. Edmodo creates an interactive class forum for students to post homework, ask questions, share resources... I even have them take pictures and send it to one another if someone forgets their textbook.
One thing I may try with the parents later is Remind 101. This free app allows teachers to send texts to parents or even their students. This is only one way messaging and students/parents are not able to reply. For safety reasons no phone numbers are ever exchanged. It is a great way to send a quick reminder to your students.
